LIVERPOOL STAR OFFERS DAMNING LEEDS VERDICT AFTER SHOCK 2-1 LOSS
Trent Alexander-Arnold has stated that the Reds were punished for not taking their chances as liverpool lost 2-1 to Leeds United in what was quite a surprise Premier League result. Speaking to the club’s official website, the England international lamented the missed chances Liverpool had against leeds as Jesse Marsch’s side stole a late winner to claim all three points on Merseyside, with Leeds securing their first Premier League win since late August. The result leaves Liverpool 13 points off Manchester City already ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup break in November, and for many, Jurgen Klopp’s side stand no chance of challenging for the Premier League title, with top-four now seemingly now in the balance. Indeed, the result against Leeds could easily be regarded as Liverpool’s worst this campaign, with the Reds seemingly unable to beat Illan Meslier as the 22-year-old registered nine saves in what was one of the best goalkeeping performances of the season. Liverpool suffered for not being able to beat the French youngster, with the 24-year-old fullback stating the Reds created the chances on the night against Leeds to get a result against the Yorkshire giants. Alexander-Arnold said: “It’s difficult to take. You never want to lose at home, something we pride ourselves on. For us, we want to win as many games as we can. It’s a disappointing result. We created enough chances to go and win that game but in football, you get punished for not taking your chances.
